"I Wouldn't Be Connected to God Without This Huddle"

Dear Eastern Iowa FCA Family,

This year at Linn-Mar High School, we not only saw growth in numbers but also growth in deeper relationships. Relationships with each other and, most importantly, relationships with Jesus.

The Huddle Coaches and Student Leaders have a passion and care for their school, coaches, athletes, and the attendees that is hard to come by. They let the Lord work through them in many ways, leading to so many Gospel conversations, new/growing relationships with Jesus, and new/deepening friendships among themselves.

Leaders discipling others and disciples discipling disciples. It was a beautiful thing to be a part of and witness throughout the school year.

At the end of this year, the Leaders invited everyone from their Huddle to gather at a Leader's house. They played games, shared food, read scripture, prayed, and listened to worship music. Toward the end of the event, the Leaders gave everyone a chance to talk about their experience this year at FCA. The comments were heartwarming to say the least.

“I wouldn’t be connected to God right now if it wasn’t for this Huddle.”

“I don’t have many friends; they are all here.”

“God has worked in me so much this year that I have been inviting my friends more. I would have never done that before.”

“I learned how to share the Gospel this year.”

“As a freshman, it was great to have a place that welcomed me for who I am.”

“I wish I had started coming when I first heard about this two years ago.”

“My church youth group can actually be kind of plain and just tell us what to do. I like how we can read the Word and talk about it here at FCA.” 

“Thank you, Leaders, for letting me ask questions and being honest with me.”

The comments kept coming for nearly an hour. God was there that whole night, and the Holy Spirit in those moments was changing hearts, growing people’s faith, and lifting up new Leaders to join in discipling others. God is working through so many students this year at Linn-Mar, and it only feels like the beginning of what He has in store.

• That student-athletes would continue to boldly live out their faith in everyday moments and reflect Christ through their actions.
• That teams would experience greater unity through Christ-centered leadership and relationships.
• That more students would be open to simple invitations and conversations that lead them to encounter the Gospel.
• That God would continue to raise up leaders who will take the next step of faith to start and grow FCA huddles in their schools.
