Welcome Maree Bean to the FCA Team!
Hello! I’m Maree, the new FCA Outdoors Ambassador for the Eastern Iowa area. I’m excited to be joining the FCA team! Here’s a bit about me + my FCA story:
I’m an Iowan farm girl, the oldest of 3 girls raised by wonderful parents. I came to know Christ at a young age and have always had a heart to live on mission for Jesus. I’ve been involved in various ministries over the years, predominantly international student ministry and Christian young adult’s ministry. Yet never would I have envisioned myself coming on staff with FCA. Not because FCA isn’t a stellar ministry, but because at no time have I seen myself as a traditional athlete.
I didn’t grow up as the kid kicking around a ball. Instead, I was out catching tree frogs and butterflies, dabbling in fishing and hunting, foraging for berries, involved in 4-H and our homeschool program, saving every penny for a horse… I didn’t think FCA had a space for someone like me. Yet God had different plans, plans beyond what I could have asked for or imagined: He graciously put me in a position to learn about FCA Outdoors and then opened wide the doors for me to join this incredible ministry!
WHAT IS FCA OUTDOORS?
FCA Outdoors is a branch of FCA that reaches people in the outdoors environment. This environment encompasses areas such as hunting, fishing, horseback riding, kayaking, hiking, marksmanship, and more.
The vision of FCA Outdoors is to be a community working to see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of the outdoors and its community. We desire to see every person who loves the outdoors and the activities that take place there enter into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
As an Ambassador for FCA Outdoors in the Eastern Iowa Area, I will be working to make disciples through engaging, equipping, and empowering the outdoor community to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same. In the following months: I will be working to raise around $25,000 to fund the Eastern Iowa FCA Outdoors ministry. I will be praying for and seeking out ministry partners and volunteers.
I will be learning what is needed for my new role. I will be considering how this ministry might make an impact on an international level. And I will be planning events, starting huddles, and thinking strategically about the future of FCA Outdoors and how we can be reaching the outdoors community in Eastern Iowa and beyond for Christ.
In this adventure, I believe God “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” (Ephesians 3:20). Please pray for me and our team as we embark on this journey!
