God’s Timing in Davis County

Dear Eastern Iowa FCA family,

Some ministry stories unfold slowly, and Davis County has been one of those places.

In his first two years serving South Rural Iowa, Chad Setterstrom did everything he could to introduce FCA to the community.

But no matter how hard he tried, doors seemed closed and interest was low. Davis County was one of those schools where, despite faithful effort, nothing seemed to take root.

And then—God moved.

After nearly a year of little to no contact, the head football coach reached out unexpectedly. He wanted to know what he needed to do to bring FCA to his coaching staff and his players. The only thing he had received during that time were two simple coach’s game-day prayers Chad had sent throughout the season.

Those small seeds were enough.

Currently, two coaches and five athletes are meeting weekly on Wednesdays. They are reading through the FCA Core and are preparing to launch a multi-sport huddle this spring.

As Chad put it so simply:

“I have learned that God’s timing is perfect and ours is not. Stay faithful with the little things and you will be rewarded.”
